A Love That Has No Boundaries

I found this old writing I did in High School, and the irony is- every bit of this is what I have been currently struggling to grasp. A sweet reminder of His love, a love that has no boundaries.
"I'm absolutely convinced that nothing-nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable-absolutely nothing can get between us and God's LOVE because of the way that Jesus, our master has embraced us," (Romans 8:38-39). So, God is good. He loves us and has promised to never leave us; not ever. Let me guess, this isn't the first time you've heard this, is it? I'm sure you've heard many truths about God. Maybe you've heard them so much and so often that they sound meaningless or superficial. You see though, these truths about God aren't just facts; so called “guidelines for Christians” or even do's and don't. We should be clinging to the truth no matter what life throws our way. But instead we blow it off, never letting it really sink in. And honestly, maybe some of us don't really believe it.
Hmm, so- God is good. Ya, ya, ya, right? Well, no. When I say God is good I mean that in every possible situation or scenario God's heart is striving to do the best and highest of all good, not for Him, but for us. He is a loving God. He loves to surprise people and bless people. He wants good to come to our lives, to be a part of our lives. God has been planning good for us, for a long, long time. Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by His love. Long ago He decided to adopt us His family through Jesus Christ. He wanted us to enter into the celebration of His lavish gift-giving by the hand of His beloved son. (Ephesians 1:4-6). I mean what a pleasure to know He took planning in all of this. The lyrics from the song “Your Love Never Fails” by Jesus Culture comes to mind as I write this. It goes, “You make all things work together for my good.” What a truth to be treasured.
By now the wheels in your head are probably turning, your mind is swirling with thoughts. We've established that God is good, but what about the rest of the world? The world that is filled with so much pain. If God is good, and wants good for us then how can He allow us to walk this earth in turmoil. You need to understand that God never intended for us to live like this although He knew it would be like this from the very beginning. Our destiny changed the moment Adam and Eve chose to sin. Evil has branded the entire world, changing the ways of mankind forever. God promises to walk with us though, for we are His children and He shall never abandon us.
I once read in an old book of mine, "He guides us, He holds us, He sustains us, He protects us, He rescues us, He defends us, He provides for us. And he promises that one day, He will make all things right." Let me remind you though, just because God is good doesn't mean He will always make life easy or painless. Think about it. A doctor is looked at as being "good" when they cut a patient open to remove diseases cells, but that person may or may not be pain free. God isn't an almighty Santa Claus. However it does mean God is the perfect Father, the King of KINGS, our Lord. He is love itself, and anything not loving is not of Him. Anything not forgiving is not Him. He is an amazing Father, one who is willing to do hard things in our lives for a greater purpose. If we could only see the end of the story, how it is our life will turn out if we were to follow Him and only Him, surely we would be more apt to follow Him, with a giving of our whole hearts.
Deuteronomy 31:6 reads, "Be Strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them, for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsaken you." Let those last words sink in. Our God, the Father of the Universe will never leave us, even in the midst of this broken world He will rescue us."
A friend recently told me to read Psalm 18, and I won't lie it really blew me out of the water; to think God himself would part the heavens and come down to us, children of weakness, rescuing us from enemies we were surrounded by. As if saving us wasn't enough the Bible then says that He, Himself delighted in us! If you have a moment do check it out.
Have you ever found it hard to trust God? I do, quite often in all honesty. Maybe this is because our fallen world causes us to have so much anxiety and worry that it seems impossible to relax in the reality of God's greatness. It just doesn't seem real or safe in our eyes. Trusting in something that you can't physically see is tough and at times can be frustrating. God's greatness is one of satan's favorite truths to attack, and as we all know he's relentless, never giving up.
God is good. It's in the end when we stand before Him, putting this broken world behind us that any doubts that we ever had about Him will seem foolish and that they should. He is so good that He gave the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Throughout the Bible, throughout History, & throughout our lives God has over and over again shown Himself to be good. No matter what it is you are going through at this very moment in time, God is good. His heart is 100-percent devoted to us and our good. Sometimes the truth can be a lot to take in, but do cling on to this one.
"Do not doubt the Lord. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." -Matthew 17:20

Hello again! Long time no talk?

Updating my blog often is not as habitual as I would like, however here I am given a quick catch up.  On June 8th, 2014 I graduated from Poland Regional High school and let me just say it was quite a relief to finally be done these last four years.  It was like that of a marathon, the last leg of the race that seemed to continue on forever. I'd been impatient with life for who knew where I was going, or where the heck I'd even end up.  The last month of high school was one of the most challenging, but with a few close friends tightly by my side I made it through.             "Don't wish away high school, when you're finished you'll want to go back. Experience it all."  Advice I heard continuously from elders, much wiser for a reason.  Yet as I finished my last real day of high school emotions ran high.  Four years of ups and downs, highs and lows that seemed to feel like a r...

3 Things No one Ever told me about College

College is all about finding yourself, learning to balance hard work and fun and most of all starting a foundation for your future.  Yet no matter how many questions I asked or people I prodded some lessens I found are learned yourself.  Or- to be quite honest many obstacles I knew nothing of. Many of the struggles I have faced in college already were expected, you know the occasional disagreement with a roommate or pop quiz you missed in class because you decided to sleep in and skip that 8 am. With this being said I've been surprised at some of the tough surprises I am running into. I. Stranger Stranger  For starters I knew I would probably be homesick, for sure.  But never in a million years would I find it so hard adjusting back home even for a couple nights.  No one told  me I would feel like a stranger in my own home .  My friend Emily moved into my room and though we've shared it for many months I all of a sudden feel like an intruder. ...

Alton Bay, New Hampshire- Spiritual Retreat

During February vacation a bunch of us youth were able to spend a weekend in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. Talk about much needed time off.  So easily are we consumed by our daily notions.  At the beginning of the weekend after prayer and discussion we all felt as though the weekend was meant to be used for stillness.  Words such as "Trust, better relationship, confidence, and more faith" were written down.         The Holy Spirit was sweetly intense.  Worship was lifting, and a refreshment of peace was restored in my own heart.  Our youth leader, Sean gave us certain bible verses to read over.  I always had known the Bible is dense in stories, yet I had never dug deep enough to realize that frequently there are stories written from different perceptions.        Jesus died on the cross for our sins- none of which were worthy of being forgiven and yet through Jesus we were given a new...
